Solar panels installed on NFU Mutual’s Head Office

We are pleased to announce the installation of 560 solar panels on the roof of our Head Office building in Tiddington, Stratford-upon-Avon.

Working with NFU Energy and Ineco Energy, this marks an exciting next step on our journey towards becoming a net zero business.

NFU Mutual is committed to becoming a net zero business by 2050, with an interim carbon emission reduction target of 50% by 2030. To help us get there, we have already introduced initiatives across several areas of our operations.

These include activities across our owned office sites, such as a national LED lighting roll-out and the installation of 36 electric car charging points.

We’re proud to see that these initiatives are starting to make a difference, with 2024 showing a 47% reduction in our carbon emissions across NFU Mutual’s occupied premises, compared to a 2019 base year.

Ed Bannister, Facilities and ESG Manager at NFU Mutual, said: “NFU Mutual takes the impact our operations have on the world we live in very seriously. Buildings continue to be one of the largest contributors to carbon emissions across the world – around 20% of greenhouse gas emissions in the UK. Our solar panel installation supports our commitment to de-carbonising our own operations. We're excited to be investing in renewable technology and generating our own electricity for the first time. We expect the panels to generate around 17% of our energy needs annually.

“Our members depend on us to protect them against risks, and climate change poses one of the most significant challenges to humanity today. That’s why, alongside reducing our own emissions, we’re working to support our members in their own climate efforts. As our customers invest in new innovative renewable technologies, we’re proud to have done the same for our own premises. Like our members, we have had to consider the insurance needs of our solar installation and have choose to go beyond best in class to minimise risk to our property.”
